Video: Burned at McDonald’s

A National COSH survey has highlighted the occupational health and safety hazards faced by fast food workers:

  • 79% of fast food workers suffered burns on the job in the past year.
  • 73% had multiple burns
  • 36% report that first aid kits were missing, inaccessible, or empty.
  • 33% were told to treat burns with inappropriate treatments such as mustard, mayonnaise, butter, or ketchup.

How do all those burns happen? In this new video from Fight for $15, McDonald’s workers tell their stories of understaffing, dangerous work practices, and the use of condiments as first aid.
