Conference Center at the Maritime Institute (outside of Baltimore, MD)

(Note: The internal COSH Network Conference will be held June 1- 2, 2015.)

National COSH will be holding its fourth National Conference on Worker Safety and Health at the Maritime Institute outside of Baltimore, MD, on June 2 – 4, 2015. In response to feedback from past conference participants, we have extended the conference program, which will begin at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 2, with Regional Networking Roundtables, followed by afternoon workshops (registration begins at 11 AM). And, join us for a special optional Health and Safety Stand-UP on Friday, June 5th.

The conference program will include:

  • Over 40 workshops on a wide range of topics including legal rights under OSHA, how to organize successful worker safety and health campaigns in the workplace and in the community, policy advocacy strategies and methods, effectively reaching and working with temporary workers, infectious disease protections, chemical hazards, and many other technical training topics.
  • Several panels including some of the leading figures in workplace safety and health around the country.
  • Monolingual Spanish track; English/Spanish interpretation in all plenary sessions.
  • Inspiring keynote speakers, including Tefere Gebre of the AFL-CIO and Jordan Barab of OSHA.
  • Regional networking sessions to strengthen local health and safety movements
  • An awards banquet and program on Wednesday evening, June 3

Health and Safety Stand-UP- Washington DC

 After our conference concludes on June 4th, join fellow activists on June 5th for a Health and Safety Stand-UP in Washington, D.C.

We” ll head into the nation’s capital and let policy makers and business leaders hear loud and clear about their responsibility to guarantee safe, healthy workplaces for all American workers. Following meetings with your legislators, we will deliver a petition from delegates to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, calling on them to stop blocking the new OSHA silica rule that will save hundreds of lives a year.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

The conference registration fee covers attendance at workshops, plenary sessions, and the exposition for the 3-day event. The conference begins at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 2 (registration check-in begins at 11 AM) and concludes on Thursday, June 4 at 5 PM. Lunch is included on Wednesday and Thursday in the conference registration fee. Conference registrants who are not staying at the CCMIT and who wish to attend the Awards Dinner on Wednesday, June 3rd, must pay an additional fee of $30.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The Conference Center at the Maritime Institute (CCMIT) is nestled within 80 acres of lush greenery and rolling grounds with ample room for jogging, walking, and other outside activities. This countryside setting is strategically located within the Baltimore – Washington corridor. In fact, the campus is less than five miles from the Baltimore – Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport, the BWI Amtrak Station, and Interstate-95. The campus is also near many major tourist destinations such as Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, DC. For directions to the Conference Center visit http://ccmit.org/directions.

HOTEL REGISTRATION

Hotel room accommodations at the Conference Center at the Maritime institute have SOLD OUT. We have arranged a group conference rate of $124/night (plus tax) at Wingate by Wyndham BWI,just minutes away from the CMMIT. There are limited rooms available so make your reservation soon. Dinner at the CCMIT is not included through non-CCMIT hotels. Therefore, if you want to attend the conference Awards Banquet on Wednesday, June 3rd, you must select the Conference Registration and Awards Banquet option when paying for the conference. Dinner tickets for other evenings may be purchased at the CCMIT for $26.00.
