New manual focuses on state, local worker safety campaigns

The Center for Progressive Reform has just released “Winning Safer Workplaces: A Manual for State and Local Policy Reform.” National COSH Executive Director Mary Vogel says: ““It’s exactly what’s needed to help strategize, advocate and win improved health and safety so we can prevent illness, injury, and fatalities on the job.”

In an article for Science Blogs, co-author Celeste Monforton argues that given gridlock in Washington, advocates must focus on change at the state and local level. The manual, she says, “includes more than a dozen ideas for reforms that would empower workers, make sure crime doesn’t pay, and strengthen institutions.”
