Heat illnesses get worse fast. Watch out and respond quickly to early signs of heat stress. Call 911 immediately if someone has symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Employers are legally responsible to provide a safe workplace under OSHA’s General Duty Clause. Work with your co-workers to report dangerous heat and demand safe conditions. If your employer refuses to provide a safe workplace or threatens with retaliation you can file a complain with OSHA online, email, or by calling 800-321-6742 (OSHA).

  • COVID-19 Worker Fatalities

National COSH is documenting fatalities of workers who have died after exposure to COVID-19.   It’s up to our grassroots movement to acknowledge and record these deaths, because no public agency is doing so.   Our intention is to honor the lives of these workers, better understand the size of this tragedy, and advocate for all workers who are still surviving the pandemic.

We need everyone’s participation. Please access our  social media toolkit  and share with your connections.

If you have information about a family member, friend or co-worker who died from COVID-19 please use  this form  to document their passing.

  • Family Resource Guide

No one should have to experience the pain and heartache of a loved one killed on the job. Please accept my sincerest sympathies for your loss.

On July 27, 2005, my husband was tragically killed at work. Since that time my family and I have met many other families who have been forever impacted by a work place tragedy. Inspired by our loss and the loss of hundreds of other families each year, my three children and I have become active volunteers with the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health (MassCOSH), one of 22 non profit groups which make up the National COSH Network.

I hope you find the information in this guide helpful during this difficult time. These documents and materials were hard for me to find at the time of my husband’s death, but since MassCOSH has compiled it I have referenced it many times.

If you have any questions regarding family rights after a workplace incident, contact a local COSH or National COSH.

    With deepest sympathy,

    Debbie King

  • Organizing a Congressional Delegation

This guide is intended to help you set up and plan discussions with your representatives. Your legislators or their staff have an obligation to meet with constituents and they should welcome the opportunity to meet with all representatives in your delegation.

The National COSH Network is mobilizing congressional delegations throughout the country to ensure safety and health protections for all workers are not weakened by the current administration. In addition, National COSH and its partners developed a policy platform outlining our shared principles called “Protecting Workers’ Lives and Limbs: A Call to Action”. We hope that you can join a delegation to send a message to our political representatives – we will defend our right to safe and healthy workplaces!

A health and safety committee can be an important way to improve conditions on the job.
